Die Eyewear-Marke aus Barcelona präsentiert eine optimistische, engagierte Kampagne mit Bodenhaftung, die uns dazu bringen will, uns auf die einfachen Dinge im Leben zurückzubesinnen. Mit einer Kollektion, die zahlreiche Themenwelten umfasst, zeigt Etnia einmal mehr, dass die Marke für Vielfalt und Diversität steht und mit ihrer Ästhetik viele Menschen anspricht.

Terra. Still I rise steht für ein unerwartetes Erwachen, eine Aussöhnung mit uns selber und unserem Umfeld, für die Idee, dass wir Teil der Natur sind und wieder zu ihr zurückkehren. Das Allerwichtigste wird immer sein, was uns am nächsten ist: die Erde. Und wenn wir buchstäblich mit beiden Beinen fest auf dem Boden stehen, gibt uns dies Kraft, um uns zu erheben und uns ein ums andere Mal neu zu erfinden.

Terra steht für die Umkehr der Landflucht: raus aus der Stadt. Wir kehren zurück zu unseren Wurzeln, kommen von Äußerlichkeiten auf innere Werte, so dass wir erkennen können, dass es die einfachsten Dinge sind, die wir am meisten brauchen.

Die Herbst-/Winterkollektion 2020 von Etnia Barcelona will uns Anstoß geben, auf die Suche nach uns selber zu gehen und frei zu sein. Die neuen Optical- und Sun-Modelle überraschen uns mit ihren Formen und ihrem Detailreichtum ebenso wie mit metallischen Effekten, unter denen besonders diejenigen mit doppeltem Vorderteil auffallen, und die Acetatvarianten kommen kurvenreich und mit feinen Walzarbeiten daher. Es erwarten uns lebendige, durchscheinende Farben, Havannatöne und einfarbige Walzarbeiten in unerwarteten Kombinationen, wie sie so typisch für die Marke sind.

Die Kollektion umfasst insgesamt neun Themenwelten, unter denen jeder von uns seine ganz persönliche Variante von Etnia Barcelona entdecken kann: Sie reichen von Modellen, die von den goldenen Jahren Hollywoods inspiriert wurden, über Art Déco oder Kubismus bis hin zu architektonischen Großprojekten. Es gibt ein Etnia Barcelona für jeden Moment
im Leben und für alle persönlichen Vorlieben.

Außerdem engagiert sich Etnia Barcelona weiterhin für Nachhaltigkeit. Wir verwenden seit jeher natürliche Materialien wie hochwertiges, aus Baumwolle und Holz hergestelltes Acetat, und unsere Sonnenbrillen sind mit Mineralgläsern bestückt. Die Verpackung besteht aus 100 % recyclingfähiger Pappe aus Mais.

Alle Kollektionen werden komplett in unseren eigenen Werken und mit Technologien hergestellt, die einen Beitrag zur Senkung des ökologischen Fußabdrucks leisten und Garant für langlebige Qualitätsprodukte sind, wobei wir besonders auf eine ethisch verantwortliche Herstellungskette achten.

Etnia Barcelona ist eine unabhängige Brillenmarke, die 2001 ins Leben gerufen wurde. Das Design-Team des Labels entwirft alle Kollektionen von Grund auf neu, wobei stets der gesamte Fertigungsprozess strengen Kontrollen unterliegt. ABOUT EYEVAN

In 1972, EYEVAN made a start with a concept of “Eyewear for dressing as a fashion item”. In 1985  it made a sensational world debut. EYEVAN product is synonym with its timeless design. There are Japan’s genuine craftsmanship and creativity and enthusiasm of design team of those days,  In 2013 after around 40 years from launch, new design team reconstructed the brand EYEVAN 7285. 

Design sources are archives of EYEVAN, variety of things such as vintage eyewear, telescopes, hand mirrors and old tools that our initial design team collected, and artifacts such as building structures and products of nature the designers saw. EYEVAN blends these numerous design sources and transformed to the products as eyewear.

For example, design influences are  from French cutlery in 1940s. Metal frame comes from structure of eye test equipment in 1970s. Old Japanese temples are the inspirations of  these arabesque patterns. We produce the products of EYEVAN 7285 with the combination of craftsmen’s handwork and the state-of the art machine tools in Sabae, Fukui prefecture which stands first in production of eyewear in the world. With the traditional and the latest processes, many of its designs, looking at first glance simple, are actually artful. Only a handful of craftsmen who are exceptionally skillful in Sabae make eyeglasses one by one through about 400 processes. They are more like art works than industrial products.

About VAVA

The spirit of VAVA eyewear is derived from today’s post-industrial society and the growing belief of belonging to a post-human age.

We’re inspired and fascinated by the post-industrial world in which cities like Detroit, once a symbol of industrial prosperity, dramatically collapsed and was forced to re-invent itself to ensure its survival. At the same time the Techno movement emerged as a significant step in this process of rebirth; indeed, when it appeared in the 80’s it was part of a movement towards the creation of a Techno City, the city of the future, where technology would emerge as the salvation.

Also, there is a strong link with Berlin, another post-industrial city, that shares many similarities with Detroit – as well many differences, which is what makes both cities so interesting and unique.

VAVA’s mission is to represent the mankind being in control of the technological world and at the same time in control of himself, expressing the antithesis of acceleration and rest.

In an environment of high-speed culture, turbo capitalism, media overload, digital revolution, ecstasy of consumption, mega trends and accelerated culture, VAVA eyewear represents deceleration, purism and metaphysics. The structure and design of the eyewear is not just physical – think of pollution, dust, UV, etc. – but creative. It permits the wearer the spiritual space to focus on a ‘mind over matter’ asceticism and a personal dose of reinterpreted perspective.

We strive for a contemporary pared back look in conjunction with the futurism, conceptualism and purism that is associated with Techno. The spirit of VAVA is based on the same principle: VAVA is conceptual and visionary in its essence.

KOBERG is our favorite collection: frames that we use for our own! We love the timeless and fashionable design of Mr. Josef Lanta and the screwless hinge as technical highlight.

We want frames “Made in Germany” and therefore the KOBERG-frames are produced and coloured in Deoma factory in Gerlingen by Allessandro Piccici and his team. We attach great importance to best components such as hardened and tempered stainless steel, colors from Berlac, pads from Frey & Winkler, screws and nuts from OBE.
